The Necessary Condition Analysis workshop we organized at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2023 in Boston has been selected as one of the finalists for the 2023 Research Methods Division PDW Award! The Academy of Management Annual Meeting is an annual conference for management researchers. Our workshop was sponsored by the Research Methods Division, a subgroup of the Academy of Management committed to advancing and disseminating techniques for the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data in management research.

The five members of the Professional Development Workshop (PDW) Award Committee evaluated the materials submitted by eligible PDW organizers as well as the feedback provided by the workshop participants to select the finalists. Out of the three finalists, they voted for this year’s award winner.

2023 Research Methods Division PDW Award Winner

The 2023 Research Methods Division PDW award has been won by the workshop Unsilencing Images in Qualitative Research: Giving Voice to Photographs with Two Hands-on Activities. The workshop was organized by Ace Beorchia (Kennesaw State University), Anne Smith (University of Tennessee), Ben Alexander (California Polytechnic State University), Hans Hansen (Texas Tech University), Sara R. S. T. A. Elias (University of Victoria), and Jaewoo Jung (Colorado State University).

2023 Research Methods Division PDW Award Finalists

The two other finalists for the 2023 Research Methods Division PDW Award were our workshop entitled Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA): Logic, Theory, Methodology, and Publications and the workshop Visualizing Qualitative Data and Theory. Our workshop was organized by Stefan Breet (Radboud University Nijmegen), Jan Dul (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Nicole Franziska Richter (University of Southern Denmark), and Tatiana Andreeva, (Maynooth University). The workshop on Visualizing Qualitative Data and Theory was organized by Elizabeth Long Lingo (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), Ozumcan Demir-Caliskan (Imperial College London), Karen J. Jansen (University of Reading), and Ann Langley (HEC Montréal).
